After being raised and tortured in captivity the New Species are finally free and fighting for their place in this world alongside the humans, some of which would like nothing more than to hunt them to extinction.
Fury is a canine New Species with a serious grudge against the woman who witnessed one of his most embarrassing moments only to frame him for murder before she disappeared. Now that his people are settling into their new homes in a place they aptly named Homeland, he is trying to move on, despite his trust issues when it comes to humans.
However, when Ellie, the very woman whom he'd vowed to kill if he ever found her, walks into the meeting, he reacts without thought and attacks. The only problem? His friend and the one running Homeland stops him, explaining the dangerous role that the woman had played in order to aide them in being rescued.
Now, with his obsession for her taking another turn, Fury finds himself watching her, his feelings deepening with each passing day as he watches her care for and help acclimate the females of his kind to their new lives.
When the danger his kind face suddenly threatens to pull her down as well, he knows that he has to do something, but once he has her ensconced in the safety of his home, who's going to keep her safe from Fury and his growing desires?
This book is the first in a series and holy cow, is it good!! I devoured this bad boy in a day and immediately went on to book two. I love, love, LOVE books like this!
