This is the first time that a Gift Female, one of the New Species that was purposely bred to be smaller and weaker, has been portrayed as more than a background character, and I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed Beauty's inner strength.
She knows what she wants and isn't afraid to go after it, and what she wants is a man. Not just any man, but Shadow. Ever since he found her running in the middle of a storm, she's been fascinated by him. His scent is comforting, and when he hold her in his strong arms she can't think of anywhere else she'd rather be.
Shadow ends up feeling rather protective and a tad bit possessive of the small female, and that leads to them being sequestered in a home together, as it becomes evident that Beauty is more interested in finding a mate than the other Gift females that have sworn off men all together.
Watching these two stumble through their feelings and how they deal with the attraction growing hotter with each passing day, was both endearing as well as entertaining.
I would recommend this series to each and every lover of Paranormal Romance!
